Hey there!
Put Intro
One of the things that the author of this blog loves to do is to use time effectively. Of late, the author realized that she had plenty of spare time on her hands, and she thought that writing a blog was a good idea. After all, don’t people get paid for this stuff?
While the author is open to the possibility that this blog is not going to significantly alter her bank balance (if at all), the optimism that tends towards overconfidence that marks her character has led her to do this anyway. And while she has no idea what she’s going to write about, she’s starting to like this already.
The author also realizes that it is extremely pretentious to refer to herself in third person, and wants to point this out at the start before any of her readers (if at all there are) decide to tell her that she is a pretentious cow.
It is very likely that this blog is full of grammatical errors and spelling mistakes, and all kinds of anomalies unique to the English language. The author wants to add that she is by no means an expert in anything, let alone writing blogs. But, if you’ve made it till here, you might as well go ahead and read some of the author’s pieces.
Cheers!
Something old and something new
Let’s talk about College festivals.
The Author’s college is reputed for the disproportionately large number of nerds and bookworms it houses. Back home, her friends made remarkably accurate jokes about her lack of a social life, and while she has never admitted to its factual correctness, she has never felt like a liar either, because there is one time every year that the college’s native maggus are lost in the throngs of the regular, rather hip people who attend our college fest, which happens to be one of the largest in the country.
Not being a regular person, the author did not check the fest out before deciding to join the college, but she was surprised, and rather skeptical, when several of her acquaintances declared it to be the governing factor in their admission. she thought they were pulling her leg. It being a completely student run fest, she thought that it was over amplified by the minds of the nearly burnt out students whom she spoke to.
But it was amazing. As a freshie, she was mind-blown not just by the sheer number of events, but also of their quality, of their content and by the fact that students had created this beautiful tangle of events, competitions and exhibitions that was before me. She very distinctly remember when the streamer spurting devices let out a plethora of multi-colored bits of paper, which then gently wafted down on the crowd. She remembers thinking then that this was where she wanted to be.
So in the next year, she decided to be a part of the organizing team. She was told by a lot of people that if my intention was to enjoy the fest, it was better to leave the teams alone. Obviously, she did not listen to them.
To retain anonymity, she will not delve into the nature of my work, sheI will simply state that she enjoyed doing it. This year, when the fest happen, the team, like most other teams, worked very late into the nights. The five hectic days of the fest happen in a sleepless, exhausted blur, but it was much more beautiful than before. She now understands why people hold this fest so close to their hearts. Through this fest, she has met many amazing people and formed bonds that could not have been possible otherwise. She has learnt things, done things and experienced things that seem almost magical when she looks back. It feels like she has been allowed into the layers and layers of love and effort that makes the fest what it is.
When a group of people pour their hearts out to something, it becomes more than a fest, it is a feeling cherished by everyone who is connected to it. If anyone who has anything to do with it, The author wants to thank you.It is you who made it what it is.
Fin.
